Seeking Muralists for Historic Lake City Project

Large LC Mural Project Seeks Artist

The Lake City Mural Project, Build Lake City Together, NE Seattle Rotary and Interior Floor Design are seeking proposals from artists to create a large mural on the wall of Interior Floor Design at 123rd NE and LCW.

We are looking for “Lake City and the history of Lake City” on a highly visible building that once was “Lake City Bowl”. The project will be slated for spring/summer of 2020 but there will be an interactive process with community on the part of the artist beginning in late 2019. The design will be based on community feedback and process along with a close connection on content and design with the business owner.

A great resource for Lake City history is Imogene Inglett’s book “Lil Ol Lake City” available at the Lake City Library and at the Build Lake City Together store front at 12545 Lake City Way (email Chris.Leverson@CHS-WA.org to arrange to view a copy)

The wall space is approximately 14′ x 40′. Proposals are due by November 8, 2019.

Artists can email Chris.Leverson@chs-wa.org with the following information:

  • Name and contact information along with relationship to Lake City if applicable
  • Resume and/or link to past mural work
  • Written concept proposal based on the history of Lake City (with the understanding that community process will help determine final design and elements)

There is a budget of $6k for compensation and to cover outreach and materials.

Questions can be directed to Chris.Leverson@CHS-WA.org
