Volunteer with Hunger Intervention Program (HIP)
HIP is a Lake City based nonprofit dedicated to increasing food security in North King County.
HIP Senior Meals
Every Week, HIP serves over 160 meals to seniors and other community members as part of our Senior Meals Program. These nutritious meals enrich the lives of the people in our community by offering healthy food and giving people a place to interact and feel welcome. You can be part of this program by volunteering with HIP. We need people who are willing to help with cooking, serving, setting up, cleaning, and greeting folks as they come in.
The meals are every Monday and Wednesday, from 12:00-1:00. We need help cooking from 9:00am-11:30 and help with set-up serving and clean-up from 11:00am- 2:00pm. If you want to get involved please contact our volunteer coordinator at VISTA@hungerintervention.org or give us a call at 206-538-6567.
HIP Packing Parties
HIP provides weekend food bags to local elementary and middle school students who need them. These food bags, which we call healthy HIP Packs, are filled with nutritious meals to make sure kids don’t go hungry on the weekend. Come out and join us at our packing parties to help assemble these HIP Packs and help with other volunteer projects. Everyone is welcome, and no training is needed beforehand. This is a great opportunity for families and children. RSVP is helpful but not required.
Packing parties are held every 1st Thursday, 3:15-4:45pm and every 3rd Wednesday, 5- 6:30pm. Contact our volunteer coordinator at VISTA@hungerintervention.org ahead of time to confirm schedule org or give us a call at 206-538-6567.
