Imagine Lake City Together, is a neighborhood planning project led by the Children’s Home Society of Washington, Lake City Future First and Lake City Neighborhood Alliance. In June 2016, the project received a $100,000 Neighborhood Planning Grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to support the creation of a strategy to help improve the quality of life for children and families in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood. The comprehensive revitalization plan will cover community needs ranging from affordable housing, social services, green spaces, economic development and social cohesion. Imagine Lake City Together intends to apply for implementation funding of over a million dollars in 2017.
The June 28th Community Conversation will outline the draft plan, which was developed over the past year through a process that engaged over 500 Lake City residents through surveys, assessments, focus groups, and input about parks, social services, transportation, children and youth programming, senior services, education, public safety, immigrants and refugees, and more. Attendees will review the draft and have an opportunity to help make Lake City an even better place to live, learn, work and play.
“This is not a plan that should just sit on a shelf. It needs community members’ voices and energy to move it forward and improve the quality of life in Lake City for all,”
