Superstar Lake Cityzen, Janine Blaeloch – We Will Miss You
In community organizing and advocacy we see people come and go for a myriad of reasons. Life happens and many of the best and most effective leaders step back before we have a chance to properly thank them or recognize them for their contributions. Community advocacy and leadership is generally not for those looking for a “pat on the back” or floods of “thank you”.
But certainly, Janine Blaeloch, deserves our most sincere and heartfelt thanks for her years of dedication and advocacy on behalf of the Lake City neighborhood and North Seattle.
It is with great sadness that we will be saying goodbye to Janine at the end of this month as she will be moving from the area. Janine leaves a neighborhood where her impact will always be felt and a Lake City that I know she loves deeply. She has been one of our most effective leaders around transportation, pedestrian safety, and traffic safety in our neighborhood and beyond. Janine and her bicycle are synonymous with Lake City and her work with the Lake City Greenways and other organizations have set a standard for getting things done that are a benefit for the greater good.
I have had the privilege of working with Janine over the years and I have always valued her wisdom, insight, care, and commitment.
Janine will leave a great absence in Lake City when she goes but her impact will live on in projects too numerous to mention. We are better because of people like Janine. You will be missed, and I am proud to call you my friend.
I am sure I speak for all Lake City when I say, “good luck to you and Steve on your new journey” and Thank You!
