LC Library Looking for Crafty Volunteers

“At the library we are looking for several adult volunteers who are handy with tools, woodworking, cabinetry, carpentry, etc.  This would be a 1.5-3 hour volunteer commitment on Saturday, August 9th between 11am-2pm for the grand opening of the Lake City skate park in Virgil Flaim Park.  This should be a great event sponsored by the Parks Department with food, music, and skateboarding demonstrations and lessons for youth!

I am looking for volunteers who might enjoy and could help teens construct bookends and bookshelves made out of wooden skateboard decks in our library booth in the park (I have collected over 50 used skateboards for this project).  Honestly I am not at all handy, so I really need volunteers to actually help the teens!

Also I could use a couple of volunteers to help me prep 1 or 2 days in advance (anything requiring a saw or sharp tools needs to be completed in advance of working with youth).

Finally if you have any hand tools we could borrow for this project/ on 9/9 that would also be much appreciated.  Thank you so much for considering if this sounds like fun to you!  Please contact me by email below if this is of interest to you.”

Cheers,    Nancy (Lake City Librarian)
