The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is developing a plan for safer routes to Cedar Park Elementary School. With nearly 300 students, another 40 Head Start students and more than 40 teachers and staff, we’ve heard that there are concerns about traffic congestion and traffic safety during the morning and afternoon commutes, affecting traffic through the neighborhood.
After speaking with hundreds of neighbors and parents over the past several months, we have developed a prioritized list of safety improvements that include new crosswalks, signals, sidewalks, sidewalk repair and a neighborhood greenway. We have also worked together to establish a clear circulation plan at Cedar Park School that emphasizes safety, mobility, and options for getting around.
These projects will begin to be implemented in 2017. Some projects that are more complex and expensive to design and build may take several years and additional grant money to complete.
