Theater For Young Children, sponsored by Arts in the Parks Grant from Seattle’s Office of Arts and Culture and Seattle Parks and Recreation, will be bringing our summer show to three North Seattle Parks that are next door or an easy drive for your residents. Shows dates and parks are below and also contained in the PDF and JPEG flyers attached to this email.
We will be in:
Bitterlake at the playground next to the playfield on Friday, July 28th at 6 PM and Saturday, July 29th at noon.
Pinehurst Playfield (near 15th NE and NE 125th) on Saturday, Aug 12st at 6 PM and Sunday, Aug 13th at 1:30 PM.
Albert Davis Park (Behind the Lake City Library Branch) on Thursday Aug. 10th and Thursday Aug. 17th at 6 PM. Come and enjoy the farmers market and a free theater show.
Families are encouraged to bring blankets, a picnic lunch/dinner, and sit and enjoy 45 min. of theater in the park. All shows are FREE, with a suggested $5/person donation.
This summer’s show is Tales from the African Continent and features stories, games, and songs gathered from many countries and cultures. We perform the Tanzanian Folk Tale: Two Ways to Count to Ten and from West Africa: Why Mosquitos Buzz in People’s Ears. Our interactive storytelling allows children of all ages to participate by singing along to songs by famous Smithsonian Folkways artist, Ella Jenkins and join us on stage to play the Liberian children’s game Who is in the Garden.
