A huge thank you to all who participated in the “World of Tastes in the Heart of Lake City” passport program. This year was a smashing success. We have received wonderful feedback from our participating businesses and a tremendous amount of buzz on this business support program from the community. This is an effort that supports the local “mom and pop” businesses that help to give Lake City our unique flavor and is a tool that Lake City Future First can use to attract new business into our community. The success comes from every one of the businesses that saw a new customer and to every resident that discovered a new hidden gem in our business district. We are thrilled to see the “World Of Tastes in LC” on it’s way to becoming a tradition in Lake City.
This year our grand prize winner was Seth Hayden. Lake City Future First was pleased to present the Hayden’s with a $250.00 VISA gift card (Courtesy of LCFF) and a $50 gift certificate courtesy of the Beer Authority.
The Hayden’s purchased a home in Lake City 2 1/2 years ago and were super excited to take part in this community effort. Eli is the recent edition to the Hayden family who was not able to take part in the program directly but seemed pleased to be out an about when I had the chance to meet with his parents. Their favorite places on the list are the Kaffeeklatsch and Goodies. When asked what was the best discovery on the “passport”, they agreed that Kabsa House was a great find.
Our special 2nd Place Prize of 10 Free Yoga Classes at Two Dog Yoga went to Darcy Buendia. Second place part two went to Anna Talensky and Jon Fletcher – and they received a $50 gift certificate to Elliot Bay Brewery. Last but not least, John Wu won our third place prize of $25.00 to the Beer Authority.
Thanks again to all the participating eateries and specialty shops that took part: Hell Bent/Goodies Mediterranean Market/Elliot Bay Brewery/The Beer Authority/Manila Manila/ Kaffeelatsch/Pho An/Kabsa House/Lake City Gyros/and Jose’s Taqueria
Also a big thank you to our sponsors – Pierre Auto Centers/Two Dog Yoga/Kaffeeklatsch/Print Fusion/The Beer Authority/Elliot Bay Brewery/City of Seattle’s Department of Economic Development
We may not be able to wait until next year to launch our next passport so stay tuned.
Here’s to all who took part and made an effort to “take a bite out of Lake City”
