Seattle Day of Service

Lake City’s Participates in “One Seattle”

Thousands of volunteers joined in Saturday May 21, 2022 with Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, local leaders, and neighbors across our city for the first ever One Seattle Day of Service. Lake City had multiple locations including work in Little Brook and at the North Helpline Food Bank. Build Lake City Together had over 75 volunteers at our 12700 Building and we were joined by Mayor Harrell as we rolled up our sleeves and give back to our community.

Our incredible group of volunteers collected over 40 bags of trash and weeds. Groups worked on weeding most of the tree beds from 123rd to 125th along LCW and refreshed the planters along that stretch guided by Justus from Kaffeeklatsch, Mark Mendez of BLCT, and Randy Kilmer from Nathan Hale. A mighty group brought a commercial refrigerator and freezer to the new BLCT Heart Space at 12700 Lake City Way, Many volunteers spread out on 33rd Ave., 30th Ave, and the downtown business core to pick up litter.

We were even joined by some classic Sonics players and were super pleased to host Mayor Harrel and Joanne Harrel as they made their rounds across the City. It was a spectacular event and thank you so much to everyone who came out to give a some love to LCW!

Here are some photos from the days events – Enjoy!
