Art – Activating Empty Store Fronts
This spring we worked with Stephanie at the Solara Apartments to turn their one remaining empty store front into an Art Gallery for the evening. Eight local artist, seven who either live or work in the neighborhood showed their work to about 100 neighbors who passed through. The evening was highlighted by having several of the artists on hand to talk about their work and snacks and beer tasting were provided by The Beer Authority and Stephanie at the Solara.
Working with SR Investments and Artist Melissa Koch we also helped with the installation at the old Dollar store on LCW. The installation happened to coincide with Melissa’s draping on the Arch of the 125th Street Mini Park.
Through this pilot program in Lake City we hope to provide opportunities for more local artists, fill our empty store fronts, increase pedestrian traffic and visually enhance our collective experience.
