“Vacation in Lake City”

Watch the Movie!

Vacation in LC Event
August 22nd Film Showing

On August 22nd it was standing room only as Lake City community members came out to support and watch the Seattle Parks and recreation’s STEP program’s short film “Vacation in Lake City”. In the movie the STEP program members take a “vacation” in Lake City only to find that there are few options for recreation and resources for teens within the community. The film is a combination of interviews, comedic moments and poignant commentary on their experience here in a neighborhood without a full service community center and a place for them to gather and socialize. The youth followed the presentation of the film by urging the community to advocate for a new community center and by fielding a handful of questions about the process of making the movie. Take a moment to enjoy the movie and feel inspired by the youth that are finding their voice here in our community.
